Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
